Current Work

Across education, governance, and community development, her work focuses on building systems, empowering leaders, and driving sustainable impact. Through strategic roles in multiple organizations, she contributes to shaping solutions that address some of Africa’s most pressing challenges.

Teach For Nigeria

Teach For Nigeria started in 2015 at the Education Hub, a physical meeting space in Lagos City Hall, Lagos Island. Before this date, several small groups of educational professionals were passionate about establishing the global Teach For All mandate to effect systemic change in marginalised communities in Nigeria. In January 2014, the CEO of Incubator Africa, Alero Ayida-Otobo, called for the first meeting that brought together the various groups and ignited the desire to collaborate and establish Teach for Nigeria. Incubator Africa played a significant ‘incubating’ role by providing the Education Hub as a base for all activities. A strong Steering Committee initiated and executed the strategic actions that led to the eventual formation of Teach For Nigeria in 2015.
Today, Teach For Nigeria, with its focus on developing a movement of leaders across the nation who are committed to putting an end to educational inequity, is a huge success. Its vision to see that “One day, every Nigerian child will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education” is vigorously pursued by a strong Teach For Nigeria Team and an active Board made up of prominent individuals. Since its inception, Teach For Nigeria has expanded its programmes from Lagos and Ogun States, to Oyo and Kaduna States. Mrs Ayida-Otobo is a Co-Founder, currently sits on its Board and serves as a Trustee.

The School of Politics, Policy, and Governance (SPPG)

The School of Politics, Policy, and Governance (SPPG) is an unconventional school designed to attract, develop and produce a new generation of political leaders who will listen and serve the new class of citizens who know their rights. The SPPG, as part of the Values pillar of the #FixPolitics initiative, has the goal of transforming politics in Nigeria and the rest of Africa, by building a massive base and pipeline of a new value-based and disruptive thinking political class, with the requisite knowledge and skills to lead effectively. The SPPG is integral to the fulfilment of the #FixPolitics mission to elevate the Office of the Citizen to its rightful place in Nigeria and develop a political class of servant leaders.
Its vision is of a Nigeria with competent and responsible public leadership, firmly based on ethical principles and dedicated to serving the common good for the benefit of all. Its mission is to educate present and future leaders dedicated to the good of the nation and ready to serve as stewards of the wellbeing of all Nigerians. The SPPG is building reformers in the political space and it has already expanded beyond Nigeria to Senegal and Kenya, to build solid communities of political changemakers. Alero Ayida-Otobo currently sits on its Board and serves as the CEO of SPPG Africa.

Education Reform and Innovation Team (ERIT)

The Education Reform and Innovation Team (ERIT) is comprised of experienced and passionate educators, innovators and transformation agents desirous of making a positive and sustainable impact in education. The team has the goal of collaborating with other stakeholders to improve and transform schools and educational systems.
With over three decades of study and practice in the field, ERIT has led reform and innovative practice in numerous engagements across the value chain of teaching and learning. From pedagogy, learning environments, content, learning delivery systems and education technology to regulatory best practice, ERIT members have worked as individual consultants or leaders of organisations on projects in every state of the country, as well as abroad.
Its vision is to provide a values-driven, future-ready education for every Nigerian learner and its mission is to ensure every learner in Nigeria has unfettered access to quality education. A recently launched noteworthy project is the Abia Fostering Innovation Reform School Transformation (AbiaFIRST) initiative, which is being executed in partnership with Abia State under the Governorship of Dr. Alex Otti. The AbiaFIRST Transformation Education programme is focused on strategic initiatives aimed at transforming the education sector in the State through sustained investments in the development of school infrastructure, training and retraining of teachers on new trends, and the recruitment of quality teachers to cater for the rise in enrolment figures in Abia State's public schools. Mrs Ayida-Otobo is a Co-Founder, currently sits on the Board and serves as the Chair.

The Allison and Oluremi Ayida Foundation

If the lives and times of Allison and Oluremi Ayida could be captured in six words, it would be this, ‘The God Chasers and Change Catalysts.” They lived their lives with a shared vision and ended with a legacy that is known today as the Allison and Oluremi Ayida Foundation.

During her lifetime, Alero Ayida-Otobo’s mother, Oluremi Victoria Ayida, was driven by a burning desire to see men and women transformed and empowered through God’s word by intentionally creating God-encounters in cities and communities. Her father, Allison Akene Ayida, fulfilled a prophetic call to Government as a leading civil servant during the early years after independence and during the Nigerian civil war. An important highlight of his years of service was the role he played in shaping Nigeria’s post-civil war economy.

Her parents firmly believed in the transformative power of generosity. The moment Alero and her Siblings chose to walk the path of generosity, guided by wisdom and discernment, they started to understand that they were called to be faithful stewards of what their parents left in them, not just what they left for them. Over the last few years, Alero and her Siblings have navigated through the process of staying true to this call by establishing the Allison & Oluremi Ayida Foundation. Its Vision is to establish transformed individuals, communities and societies on the foundation of Love, Service and Excellence, and its Mission is to financially partner with individuals and organisations focused on stewarding spiritual growth, advancing the education sector and creating scalable solutions that transform economies. Mrs Ayida-Otobo currently sits on the Board and serves as a Trustee.

The Nucleus Centre for Early Childhood Development (Nucleus ECD)

The Nucleus Centre for Early Childhood Development (Nucleus ECD) is an organisation poised to revolutionise early childhood education in Nigeria and Africa by creating a new model of early childhood education that is developmentally appropriate, rapidly replicates, and relevant to the Nigerian (African) child. Early Childhood Care, Development and Education (ECCDE) is the bedrock of human development. This implies that challenges facing the effectiveness of ECCDE in Nigeria could also be destructive to the entire educational system (Primary, Secondary and Tertiary) if not properly managed. Nucleus ECD recognises that overhauling the ECCDE system has the potential to revolutionise the education system, and ultimately, Nigerian society. It believes that a great early education can be life-changing.
Nucleus ECD’s goal is to make the highest quality early childhood education accessible to more families, regardless of their location and socio-economic background, and to equip and empower a generation of practitioners to deliver quality care in schools and non-traditional school settings, thereby reinventing early childhood education in the process. It has defined and is continuing to define the areas of intervention and the outcomes of their intervention. These include:
• Access to holistic and culturally relevant early childhood programmes
• Access to a dynamic Play-Learn Lab where creativity is nurtured and learning happens in joy
• Increase in the number of well-trained practitioners, both teaching and non-teaching
• Clearly defined standards for early childhood development to be implemented nationwide

With the achievement of these outcomes, the number of out-of-school children in our society will reduce. Mrs Ayida-Otobo is a Co-Founder, currently sits on the Board and serves as a Trustee.
