Letter No. 1: Those Called to Change the Landscape of Africa By Alero Ayida-Otobo
Dear Game-Changing Reformer,
I write this letter from a place of love that desires the best for you and the life you have been called to live.
I have had a growing desire to write a series of letters to you my dear Reformer. I have felt a deep need to “gather” you all and “sit” with you to dialogue. To share truths and lessons that I have learnt over the last 25 years that I hope will enable you stay the course and do great things. I don’t want the fire in you to burn out and I know from studying great movements that establishing a growing community bound by a common vision and the same spirit is essential.
It is my hope that these letters will be a source of inspiration and encouragement provoking, igniting and challenging you to do more.
In these letters I will share the qualities that I hope will help you stay the course; the steps you need to take to stay successful. I will share nuggets of truths from books and insights from life experiences. We will discuss the Reformer’s Mindset and Mandate. We will learn about the Twelve Distinguishing Qualities of a Reformer. We will dig deep into the Four Prerequisites required in a reformer that are critical to changing cultures and reforming society – Character, Competence, Influence and Collaboration.
It takes courage, boldness and an unshakeable belief that you can make a difference to keep going; to keep pressing through regardless of the pressures of life; regardless of the difficulties. To be a Reformer – a History Maker you have to be persistent, relentless and undefeatable.
I challenge you to build the dream you carry. Turn it into a reality. Let your fire never burn out; let the living waters that run through you never dry up. Arise and Build in your own little corner; in your own defined space.
May these letters strengthen your commitment to be a Reformer. May you triumph over trials, obstacles and challenges.
I want you to run your race – the race you were born to win.
I leave you with the famous words declared by one of the greatest Reformers of all time – Winston Churchill. On October 29, 1941, UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill visited his old school, Harrow School. When he was invited to give a speech, Churchill stood before the students and said,
“Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, give up. Never Give Up. Never Give Up, Never Give up.”
You are unique; you are precious; you are unstoppable.
Wishing you Wisdom and Strength,
Reformer, Transformation Strategist and Author
